Course Questions
-
Do I need to be fit or strong to be able to kitesurf?
An average level of fitness is required and you should be able to comfortably swim 25 metres, but apart from that, you don't need to be particularly strong. The power of the kite is transferred through your harness, not your arms. Kitesurfing is more about technique than brute strength.
-
Do I need to be able to fly a kite before starting my course?
No, we assume you have no kite or board experience, though if you have flown traction kites before, you will have an advantage.
-
Are there any age limits for enrolment on courses?
We have a minimum age limit of 18, however we have no maximum age limit as long as the person is healthy and able and does not suffer from any serious medical conditions.
-
How many people are on my course with me?
There will be a maximum of 4 students to 1 instructor.
-
What do I need to bring with me?
A pair of trainers, something to wear under your wetsuit (board shorts for guys, swimming costume for girls), a towel to dry off with, sun cream, a hat and maybe pair of sunglasses.
-
What happens if there is no wind?
On Induction Sessions, in all but the most windless conditions, we should be able to complete the course, however if we don't, you will be issued with course credit and you can come back on another occasion to complete the remainder of your course. On Progression Sessions, you only pay on the day for however many hours supervision you received and can book yourself in for another Progression Session at a later date.
-
Will I be able to kitesurf at the end of the Induction Weekend?
About 90% of people get up on the board by the end of a completed Induction Weekend, however the focus of the course is to provide you with the fundamental skills and knowledge required for you to practice kitesurfing safely and proficiently.
-
Can I buy a course as a gift for someone else?
Yes, simply select a date on our course calendar and follow the online booking instructions, submitting the details for the person you are buying the course for. Please note that a confirmation email will be sent to the email address that you submit and so you may wish to use your own email address if the gift is a surprise.

Holiday Questions
-
Do I need to be a competent kitesurfer to go on an Ocean Fusion holiday?
Holidays to Spain are aimed at total beginners and whilst we can cater for relative beginners on our Caribbean holidays, we recommend that you are at least getting up and riding and preferably staying upwind in order to gain maximum enjoyment from your time in the islands.
-
What if there is no wind on my holiday?
Due to the costs involved, we are unable to offer refunds, however our destinations are chosen specifically for their predictable wind conditions and so it is unlikely to have no wind on your holiday and even if there are windless days, there are many alternative activities to enjoy.
-
Will I have to share a room or cabin?
Due to the limited space on board and to make our holidays more affordable, you will share a cabin whilst on the boat and sometimes on land, however sometimes we can cater for special requirments.
-
Will I have to help out on board the boat?
Whilst on the boat, most enjoy taking an active role in sailing, however absolutely no probs if you prefer to opt out.
