Due to beach access issues on Hayling Island, we are in the process of changing location and are unable to take any new bookings until Spring 2009. Alternative schools that we personally can recommend include Paracademy in Weymouth or Transition in Whitstable. Existing Ocean Fusion students wishing to complete their courses should contact us to make alternative arrangements.

Overview

This year, we are offering a choice of two Experience Days; a Zapcat Experience for those seeking a high speed adrenalin filled experience, ideal for corporate days or stag & hen events and our Wakeboarding Sessions which are aimed at those wishing to learn how to wakeboard or at kitesurfers wishing to improve their board riding skills, either way, an awesome day out on the water. Experience Days are run by an experienced RYA Coastal Skipper & Level II Powerboat Operator and all personal gear, boating and safety equipment is supplied. Parties booking Experience Days, must be aged 18 or over, relatively fit and capable of swimming at least 25 meters.

Zapcat Experience

Zapcats are high speed surf racing inflatable speed boats, their power to weight ratio and tunnel-hull design allowing for amazing acceleration, high G-force cornering ability and clean out of the water jumps. Zapcats have been raced in the UK for over 5 years and are now the world's largest one-design offshore powerboat racing class. Our Zapcat Experience gives you the opportunity to experience the speed and agility of this amazing craft and is a truly exhilarating experience. On arrival for your Zapcat Experience, you will be issued with equipment and after a safety briefing, we go straight down to the harbour to launch the boat and head out. Depending on the sea state on the day, we either head off for a wave jumping session or for a high speed flat water session or both if tidal conditions allow. You will have the opportunity to ride as co-pilot and depending on conditions and ability, possibly as the pilot. After a bit of a breather, it's time to get into the water to be towed behind the boat on inflatable tubes, an awesome fun experience to end the day.

Wakeboarding Session

Wakeboarding involves being towed behind a boat whilst riding on a small board, a surreal and exhilarating experience quite similar to surfing with the exception that your ride lasts a lot longer. On arrival for your Wakeboarding Session, you will be issued with equipment and after a safety briefing, it's straight down to the harbour to launch the boat and head out to a flat water riding location. We then start with the theory of getting the board on your feet, your body position in the water and the transition from being pulled through the water to riding on top of it, then it's time for you get into the water for your first wakeboard. Board starts are the trickiest part of wakeboarding, but once you out of the water, it is remarkably easy to continue riding and we can start looking at your stance, how to turn and even how to jump, although successful landing are not always guaranteed. Wakeboarding can be quite tiring and so students usually ride for 10 minutes or so before jumping back in the boat for a rest whilst someone else has a go and we continue in this manner for the rest of the session. Our Wakeboarding Sessions are of particular benefit to kitesurfing students as they give students the opportunity to learn their board skills without the added complexity of flying a kite at the same time. Be sure to mention if you are learning to kitesurf, as your instruction can be tailored to focus on the common skills required for wakeboarding and kitesurfing.

Booking

Wakeboarding Sessions are 6 hours in duration, cater for a maximum of 3 students and are priced at £100 per student. Zapcat Experiences are 5 hours in duration, cater for a maximum group of 4 and are priced at £75 per person. All personal gear, boating and safety equipment is supplied; all you need to bring with you is a towel, swimming gear and sun protection. Should the sea state be unsuitable or unsafe for power boating, you will be offered alternative dates or a refund.
