Hayling Island
We are located on Hayling Island adjacent to Portsmouth on the South Coast of England. Our central location has good transport links and offers easy access from London, the south east and south west. Located on the seaward side of a tidal estuary and bordered by the two natural harbours of Chichester and Langstone, Hayling Island is surrounded by a vast body of water abundant with marine life with Chichester Harbour designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty by the Countryside Agency. The island has a long nautical history, from it's early days as a smuggling base to present day marinas, sailing clubs, life boat stations and kitesurfing beaches.
Local Conditions
Our kitesurfing instruction area features the East Winner Sandbank which extends more than a mile out to sea and encloses large lagoons of protected shallow water ideal for beginners as well as sheltering a vast sailing area perfect for intermediate riders. The prevailing south westerly winds provide our best conditions, but the site is suitable in most wind directions, even offshore as we have our safety boat on hand, ready to pick you up should you end up in deep water.
Site Facilities
We are located in the forecourt of the Inn On The Beach at West Beachlands on the south western tip of the Island. There is ample parking available providing direct access to the beach and onsite facilities include a classroom, showers and changing rooms. Upstairs, the inn has a great menu and features panoramic views accross the Solent towards the Isle Of Wight, an ideal venue for lunch and sundowner drinks.
Night Life
If you plan on spending the night, Hayling Island has a range of accommodation options available, as well as a number of conveniently located campsites on offer. In terms of night life, the island has a laid back atmosphere with a selection of harbour-side pubs and marina bars offering great food and awesome views, but if you prefer something a little more upbeat than what the island has to offer, Portsmouth waterfront is just across the harbour and offers a wider selection of bars, pubs, clubs and live music venues.
